Bring a snack to share and BYOB if you can. Let me stress that THIS IS A FREE EVENT and no one is required to bring a damn thing if they don’t feel like it. The show will inhabit two spaces at 59 Franklin St.- the 400 sq. foot gallery, and it’s project space in the deep caverns of the building. The audience will discover the dark spaces using crafted flashlight torches.

The art made by Baltimore artist Dan Deacon is about community and how to organize and inspire it. From founding a now well-known art collective (Wham City), to organizing and running an annually sold-out DIY music festival (Whartscape), to conceiving, planning and curating a massive 60 person/30 band tour (Baltimore Round Robin Tour), it’s clear to see that community and bringing people together is the major theme of his work. Bromst is the embodiment of that way of thinking. (READ MORE.)

HOSPITAL: EPISODE 3 @ AXIS
Axis Company’s episodic play Hospital, about the interior life of a person in a terminal coma, is something of a signature for the company, which has produced a new installment of the drama nearly every year since 1997. Conceived, written and directed by Randy Sharp (Edgar Oliver’s East 10th Street: Self Portrait with Empty House), the show is a summer downtown phenomenon beloved for its balance of horror, humor, and weirdness. The company will present the 11th production in the series July 8 – August 20.

Love Is Blind, a show that’s half cabaret and half live dating game, seeks singles to play the game. They have the cabaret part down, but the show needs you on-stage answering outrageous questions, as the audience witnesses the spectacle.
Hosted by Sarah Sims Erwin (aka: DJ Sims, and formerly with The Fun Club), Love Is Blind features more than the dating game. It’s got the lovable song stylings of Finsbury Park and Lady Adrienne; the twisted dance theater group Movementpants Dance; and a little something balloon-y by the host. And after the show, dance to Love Is Blind’s resident DJ, Blind Eye Sees All. Proper footwear = rug cutting bliss.
$5 admission gets you a Love Lottery ticket which gives you a chance to play (or give your ticket to a friend to better their chance to win). Contestants will be picked live at the event.
Spread the word. Spread the love.

Do you ever wonder whether the path of true love might run smoother if, instead of looks, we judged each other on witty banter? Now you can find out. Come watch or participate in a live ‘game show style’ event that gives 12 lucky attendees the chance to come on stage and exchange preposterous questions with a potential date on the other side of a screen – while the rest of us enjoy the spectacle.
Hosted by Sarah Sims Erwin, LOVE IS BLIND features song stylists Finsbury Park and Lady Adrienne, the collaborative dance theater group Movementpants Dance, plus a special guest act. After the show, boogie all night to beats by DJ Blind Eye Sees All.
