“Signs of Life”

Annual Benefit and Silent Auction

Friday, April 8, 6 to 9 pm

The Center for Book Arts’ Annual Benefit is an occasion for us to celebrate our accomplishments over the past year, and pay tribute to individuals who have made a lasting contribution to the practice or interpretation of book arts.  This year we are honoring the following exceptional members of our community:

Carolyn Chadwick, Bookbinder and Boxmaker

Daniel E. Kelm, Wide Awake Garage and Garage Annex School

Steven Steinberg, New York Central Art Supply

We are excited to be able to honor their achievements at our 2011 Annual Benefit & Silent Auction, which will take place at the Center on Friday, April 8, from 6 to 9 pm. This year’s theme is “Signs of Life,” inspired by a Victorian naturalist’s desk. The event will include live music by Patsy Monteleone, fragrant cocktails, gourmet hors d’oeuvres by The Works Catering, a delicious cake by All Cats baking, and an auction featuring work by acclaimed artists.  In keeping with our theme, we will also auction off Cabinets of Curiosities created by contemporary artists specifically for this event.

Cabinet of Curiosities created by: Ana Cordeiro, Barbara Henry, Emily Martin, Kimberly McClure & Patrick Gavin, James Walsh and Robert Warner.

Work from the following artists will be available at the live auction:Bryan Baker, Delphi Basilicato, André Lee Bassuet, Emily Blair, Sarah Bryant, Victoria Burge, Deborah Chodoff, Cecile Chong, Cesar Cornejo, Béatrice Coron, Esperanza Cortes, Andrea Dezsö, Evelyn Eller, Anne Gilman, Tal Halpern, Takuji Hamanka, Barbara Henry, Candace Hicks, Yoko Inoue, Vandana Jain, Heather Johnson, Jennie C.
